Hi, I realise UC isn't ideally suited for couples to sit and talk together BUT....

Is it better to request seats facing each other, eg. 4A and 4G or
Together in the same aisle eg. 4A and 5A or
Any other ideas?

You're right UC isn't ideal for couples but I'd go for two adjacent eg 4A/5A. One of you will get neck ache though!

Of course you can always chat at the bar, or sit on one another's ottoman.

It's really a matter of preference, and of course each UC suite has a small seat at the end for you to sit and chat with each other and to enable you to dine together if you choose.

Bear in mind when selectin adjacent or opposite seats on the 787 that the A row faces a wall, the G and K seats face each other.

I'm confused why you say the A row faces a wall. Surely the A and K rows are similar, it's just the central row that adds the confusion?

We were wondering whether to try seats in the same aisle (eg. A) rather than facing each other.

Any thoughts on that?

We normally go for seats opposite each other, as said UC seats are not good when travelling as a couple, they have however always been brilliant for the many UC flights I have taken with my boss ie we haven't had to talk to each other during flights.

In UC the seats across the cabin are 1-1-1. Because of the angle of the seats designed to grant everyone direct access to an aisle, the G and K seats face each other and the A seats are looking at the back of the G seats which thus forms a wall. If you look at the seat maps in the Toolbox tab at the top of the page and scroll down to 787-9 you will see what we mean

Note also that although the G & K seats face each other, the design of the seats and the fact they're either side of an aisle mean you're not actually that close to each other, certainly not close enough to chat easily. As I said upthread I'd go for two adjacent on the A side (3-6A are probably the best).

We have not flow the 787 yet, but a quick look at the seat map tells me when we do it will be in adjacent A row seats.
I think 'the wall' gives you an extra bit of privacy if you are using your partner's foot stool to sit and chat.

We select side-to-side seats. But we do not talk to each other on flights that much anyway!

Ha maximus we are the same. Prefer side by side normally in A. The other half puts on his headphones as he says it the only peace he gets from me in 2 weeks ;)
