Seat release dates

Morning all,

Does anyone else find it frustrating that airlines release seats at different times? For example, BA release around 3 weeks before VS.

This puts me in a difficult predicament where I would rather fly VS as my preferred airline BUT if BA have a great price at release date, i'm inclined to book it because there is a chance VS will be far higher and the BA flights may have gone by then.

I'd have thought it would be in their interest to release on the same day to benefit from those customers who are looking to book ASAP.

Yes, it's maddening. I've booked a trip for this October using VIrgin, Asiana, Korean, United, and Cathay, and they're all pretty well on different schedules of ticket release. To show how stupid it is, the first flights I could book on this trip was actually the return home leg on Cathay....

I booked a BA flight LHR-LAX on the A380 in CW, and now I've secured an UC seat on VS as well, but fearing VS will replace the 787 with something else has meant I've not cancelled my BA flight yet. Need to cancel one, but which one!

I would imagine that given there are many more 789s in the fleet now their routes are fairly secure.

Surely the only replacement would be an A346?
