ATl-MCO

I want to book our connecting flights from ATL-MCO for December and need some advice about timings for the return leg.

Our flight to MAN leaves at 6pm - I've a choice of two fights from MCO landing at 2.08pm and 3.05pm. The earlier flight is more expensive by $55 per person however I'd rather pay this than risk missing the MAN flight.

For those of you who have used ATL, would the later flight allow enough transfer time?

Thanks

There are many who'd err on the side of caution but I'd say you'll be fine with the later one. MCO-ATL is a reliable, frequent shuttle service and ATL was designed to make connections quick and easy unlike, say, LAX or JFK. So the chances of something going wrong are much reduced.

But if you're a worrier, play it safe.

I'm one of those who err on the side of caution.
You have to wait somewhere, whether it be Orlando or Atlanta. I'd rather wait in Atlanta.
The airport is massive and sometimes your departure gate can be a long way away.

the flight landing at 1505 should be plenty of time as long as your bags are checked through from MCO-MAN, i've used that flight for connecting to LHR at 1730

once at ATL head straight to the shuttle train over to the international terminal, you should have time for a meal there if you want to just snooze on the flight

where i would build in safety margin is on the outbound flight, you need to collect your bag from the carousel then once through customs put it on the transfer belt, ideally it'll make your MCO flight, but i've had mine delayed there, as have colleagues and friends (the lady at the MCO DL baggage desk told me the ATL TSA sometimes hold international bags for extra screening before letting them onto connecting flights, no idea if that's true)

Thanks for the replies.

I'm not a worrier although I do like to leave enough time for connections.

Our outward flight lands at 2.45pm and I'm looking at the transfer to MCO for 5.25pm. Does this seem reasonable? There is a flight at 4.55pm but thinking about possible delays at immigration the 5.25pm is more appealing.
