Manchester are second class citizens again

I flew MCO to MAN UC on 27 February. I was surprised to receive an old amenity kit, so asked on Facebook. The following is the reply received:
Hi again Jane,
I've checked as to why it's the older amenity kits are being handed out and it is simply that the most effective way to use them up. From a logistical point of view, we wouldn't have enough of the older kits to cover all of our Gatwick and Heathrow flights, so they are being used at Manchester for the time being. Please can you message us your address :-)
Howard
Why aren't the kits used up across all routes until they are finished?
Jane

As http://v-flyer.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=292476 this thread shows it's not just the amenity kits, the UC fares for MAN/GLA/BFS are the same as LGW and yet you get less bang for your buck when flying non-London. Supply and demand I guess, not as much competition.

But playing devil's advocate VS would argue you are simply paying to be transported from A to B in your chosen cabin with the advertised ground & on-board services. That the perceived quality of those services can vary from airport to airport and route to route is neither here nor there.

Rightly or wrongly, LHR passengers are more valuable to VS than MAN (and LGW) ones. They're more likely to be travelling on business, booking more expensive flexible tickets and flying more often. So it makes commercial sense to invest more in them.

At least VS has direct TATL flights from MAN. Our supposed national airline only flies long haul from London. And look at the current lounge fiasco at LGW - there's no way BA would have done that at LHR, where it makes most of its profits.

I think they fly somewhere like Mumbai from Manchester, but its not exactly a big dent in the statement's effect...

VS has much more of a regional presence, with Manchester and Glasgow being served.

It's threads like this where we mourn the loss of Griningjackanapes. He loved a good amenity kit argument er heated discussion.
