apparently we have access to the clubhouse at Heathrow as part of our UC service to Dubai. A few questions:
1. Flying with kids is there a dress code in the clubhouse and on jet? My two girls (15 & 10) generally like to dress quite casual.
2. Is the clubhouse used by other airlines so likely to be rammed, ours is an evening flight 22-30 - if it is then would it be best to avoid.
3. Can you still access the duty free shops?
4.are the drinks free?
5. Do we get access to a lounge in Dubai on our return Uc flight?

1. Absolutely not - casual is fine.
2. Delta also use it but not at that time of night. It'll be busy as VS has several late flights but you should have no problems.
3. Yes, you can come and go as you please. You can leave bags, coats etc with the concierge if necessary.
4. Yes, free and delicious - as is the food. A limited selection of hair & spa treatments are free, others you have to pay for.
5. Yes but it's a shared lounge not a VS Clubhouse.

Get there early and enjoy! The LHR Clubhouse is rightly regarded as one of the best business class lounges in the world.

Flying UC you'll also have access to the Upper Class Wing with drive-through check in and a private security channel.

To add to Gumshoe's comprehensive reply, you will find that the Clubhouse is fairly quiet during late afternnon and starts to fill up for the Evening flights from 6pm onwards.

If you want to secure a treatment at the spa, I would strongly recommend getting there around 4 and booking your appointments as soon as you get there so as you can plan the rest of your time there around the treatment - including that bit of shopping

Just be aware that there are minimum age limits on some of the treatments so check the spa menu on the VS website.

As for dress - casual is fine but not too casual if you know what I mean. And remember than they have different standards in Dubai when in public

tontybear makes a very good reminder about Dubai dress standards - they are more conservative across the board, but especially more so for females (outside of beach / pool areas in tourist resorts).

Given that the OP states his daughters are 10 & 15, the younger one should be OK (as she is 10). If the older daughter looks beyond her years - as many girls of that age often do - then more moderate clothing would be advisable.

As the VS flight to Dubai is an overnight flight, long trousers & t-shirts / polo shirts should be no problem so knees and shoulders will all be covered on arrival (especially given the current time of year). You'll be in your resort by 10am and ready to change into something a bit more leisurely which will not be blinked at around the pool / on the beach.

And just to clarify, there was nothing offensive meant in the above. I am sure many of us on here know of people who have children of either gender who look their actual age (or less), but also some who could easily pass as many years older - hence why most pubs in the UK "Challenge 25".

Agree with most comments... Clubhouse, Smart casual is fine.

Dubai, My wife covered shoulders and knees out in public places but Bikinis and booze is fine in the hotel grounds.
