Delta Vs. Virgin Prices

Just booked an economy roundtrip ticket through Delta, on Virgin operated flights. The cost was ~$800. The cost to book these same flights through Virgin? $1800.

Virgin's pricing scheme is absurd. Last year, the same dates - I was able to get roundtrip PE for $1200. Now, they're closer to $2500 (and the plane is still basically empty).

Has anybody else noticed this lately?

When I flew with Virgin to MCO last November, the seat map was showing very few seats taken right up until a day or two before the flight. However, it was completely full. I guess hardly anyone pays to pre-book seats?

I read a post recently on the Trip Advisor Air Travel forum and it was saying more or less what you are, that Virgin flights booked on the Delta website are cheaper.

It's a shame - because - I always fly Virgin (when going to the UK) - and love to support them (even if they're slightly more expensive). But $1000? That's just absurd, and almost insulting.

It makes no difference who you buy from as with the Joint Venture DL and VS share the income!

But yes sometimes there are price differences for the same route between partners - it's just how they have shared out the fare bucket allocations

A few years ago a BA flight I was on was priced as £1,600 by BA, £1,500 on the AA code share and £ 1,400 on the IB code share

I know they share the revenue - but it's still obnoxious to have such a difference in fare prices - for the same flights - as partners.

As a side note, ~$800 for roundtrip economy in May/June is not a bad price!
