Alternative Loyalty Scheme

Hey all.
Looking for some advice on selecting an alternative Frequent Flyer account. I'll have hit 40 tps next week and my VS account won't renew until end of Jan 2017.
I'm based in New York and frequently travel to London. I don't fly British Airways unless it's absolutely necessary so won't even consider investing in their executive club.
Would love to hear some tips, advice as to where I might benefit and climb quickly.
Thanks

Forgive me for asking the obvious but I presume you're already enrolled in DL SkyMiles? If not, you can continue flying VS and just credit your flights to SkyMiles instead of Flying Club.
Otherwise I guess you're looking at the AA or UA schemes if most of your flying is trans-Atlantic. And if you do a lot of domestic flying in the US, choose the scheme that'll earn you the most benefits on your chosen routes.

I am enrolled with DL, and it's because of the partnership that I'm able to renew gold so quickly. Not exactly a fan of flying DL though.

If you tend to accrue TPs quickly on account of frequent travel, getting up to 60/80 TPs with VS might be worth doing for the various perks, before shifting your earnings to another loyalty scheme.

Air France/KLM?
When you say BA - are there other options by using Avios? like Iberia? American Airlines?
How about Luthansa? Think they partnered with United.
Guess there is no Emirates/Dubai/Qatari airlines operating that route?
