Would these be allowed onboard

My daughter was planning to take a Swegway to Dubai - but due to the lithium battery it's not allowed due to fire risk.

She also has some beam shoes

See https://www.beamshoes.com/

They basically have light up soles and charge via a usb link. Do you think they would be allowed through and to be worn on board. My concern would be the electronics within the sole?

If anyone knows the answer that would be great :D

I imagine that, provided there are no transmitters in the shoes trying to connect to a network or broadcasting, which I doubt there are, there shouldn't be a problem with the shoes. If in further doubt it might be worth trying to contact the airport for more info. LHR & LGW appear to have a good Twitter feeds with quick responses.

I can't see the shoes being a problem - just LED's, connecting wires and a battery / USB connector in them. Almost certainly not enough metal in all that to set off a metal detector.

If security require you to remove your shoes, then expect them to get quite close screening for obvious reasons. Once they see that the shoes light up & what the wires in the sole are for, they should be OK. That said, I'm not sure I'd be in too much of a hurry to wear them through a TSA checkpoint!

Is the battery removable on a swegway? If so, it's perfectly fine with you in your hand luggage!

Heathrow tell me the 'beamshoes' are fine.

Virgin wont allow swegways/hoverboards.
