I'm flying to Mexico from Gatwick in a couple of weeks. Just brought some Bose noise cancelling headphones but they didn't come with the 2 pin airplane socket.

On virgin PE do I need the 2 pin connector?

Thanks in advance

Neil

No, I just plug in to the one my Bose fits. You can however buy the two pin adaptor

I don't understand. I don't have Bose but do have a head set which comes with a one pin lead. I also have a two pin adapter with both pins of equal size, but my recollection of the Gatwick 747 is that the supplied headphones have two pins of different sizes.

Are you saying you just plug in the one pin lead into one socket?

One pin is a different size. I just plug into the one the headphones fit into to. Check the online website for retail therapy as I think they sell an adaptor if you want one

The second smaller socket is used to power the (very basic) noise canceling system for the headphones supplied in the Upper Class cabin.

You don't need a double pin headphones adapter if you plan on using your own headphones on any VS aircraft in any cabin.

The double pin system was only ever used on older IFE systems where the left and right channels where supplied separately using 2 sockets.
