Guys thank you thank you thank you!
I've been a little quiet on here recently mainly due to being non stop with work, but in true determined V-Flyer style my perseverance and your trusty advise has paid off!
Got an PE ticket EWR-LHR for my return from Boston, been checking daily and not a G to be seen on the VS2!
Anyway, this morning low and behold G fare there for the VS2! Quick call to FC and for the weird price of £98.37 it was mine!

Hate to be pernickety but EWR is Newark Liberty airport in NJ (usually serving New York/Manhattan).... a fair drive away from Boston. How are you getting from Boston to EWR?
Glad you found the G fares that you were after though, and the weird number is going to be taxes of course and a random re-faring of your originally booked fare bucket.

Amtrak Acela from Boston South down to Penn Station early doors a full day in NYC then back from NYC.
We fly into Boston but I fancied a little bit of lunch and shopping in New York before we fly back

Well done Colord!
I'm curious though - how do you see when a G specifically is available? When you do a flight search, it doesn't show the class of seat, does it?

When you search using FC miles, any ticket in Upper Class is a G fare code.

Well done! I too am looking for a G from EWR and can see them but not for my return date. Plenty for the same day from JFK though

I have tried doing a search, but to no avail, how long in advance does the Clubhouse and Bag Drop open at Newark?

The last time we arrived at Newark from MCO, we had to wait for 3 hours until checkin opened ( I'm guessing it was around 3.5 hours before departure it eventually opened, but could be wrong) The Clubhouse was already open. Air India use it (or did use it) before the VS passengers arrive as they were still in the process of changing the menus over when we pitched up.
Nice clubhouse though
Enjoy

Thanks for the responses all, I wouldn't care Gumshoe, but I read this page twice without seeing that about the 1830 Check in!

Well done finding Gs from EWR. Allow enough time to get through security there, it can be very busy sometimes. The Priority Channel is misleading - it simply puts you at the same security guy as the non-priority and he takes from each queue so you've effectively no priority. We looked at the Acela last year but decided against it as (from memory) there were luggage restrictions, maybe that's changed, or perhaps we take more luggage than you? Have a great day in NYC, one of my favourite cities, the HighLine is definitely worth a look if it appeals.

Oh wow thank you yes that certainly appeals! I am not sure if I will fit it in as Ground Zero and One WTC observatory are my top priority as well as enjoying all the EWR CH has to offer but I am back in June next year so it will be high on the agenda if I can't get there this time!
