Tier point posting Vs Actual flight dates?

Dear all,

I was 2 tier points short of qualifying for Au by 31st May so I did what any sane person would do and took a qualifying flight on SAA which was completed before 29th May. I entered my FC number whilst checking in and emailed my itinerary and boarding passes to VS.

I am aware that it can take up to 30 days to post so I called this morning just to see if it was in the system and i was told that the rules are in favour of "when" the tier points are posted rather than "when" the flights are taken. :-O :-O

Does anyone know which is correct?

Can't comment on SAA in particular but when I've had to chase VS for tier points in the past they have all posted to my account backdated to the date of the flight even if it took 2 weeks to get them to post.

It is the date that the flights are taken the tier points are credited to your account.

Of course, if this takes thirty days to action (in the meantime) you will likely drop to Ag. A quick call to VS customer service should have you at Au again in no time.

Are you on the Au for life train? if so, you will need to confirm with VS that the momentary blip is their error and will in no way effect you Gold for Life status goal. Best done in writing too - big companies can be sneaky with their loopholes ;-)
