e-ticket delay

Hi. Managed to bag an Upper Class upgrade to Miami in December. However it has been a week since the booking and I've still not received my e-ticket. I'm told there is a backlog and it's in the queue. Is there anyone else facing a similar delay in receiving their e-tickets?

Hey Paulie,
Welcome to V-Flyer

Yes this is quite common. Ticketing is done manually by VS staff and word is that there is only a very small team doing it. Typically they're done in order of soonest flight so if yours isn't until December it could be a bit of a wait.
It's quite frustrating, especially if you've been waiting a while. It'll arrive eventually though!

Thanks, Slimpy. Just checking something hasn't gone astray, so that's comforting!

I booked a couple of Gs last week, also to Miami, and the e-tickets came through within the hour.

Gilly, when are your flights? My understanding is that they prioritise by flight date.

It could also be that the booking hasn't been completed correctly - I booked some Reward PE outbound and UC inbound a couple of weeks ago, and although the credit card had been charged there was something missing on the booking on the system - a quick call to UC helpline and the e-tickets were received whilst I was still on the phone.

Can you see the flights on your MMB?

Yes, flights are there. No money has been taken yet though. Virgin tell me they are in the queue but also said they would definitely be processed in 24 hours. That was on Friday. Coincidently had a similar issue with BA but that was down to systems issues which caused a 3 week delay in them taking any money.

If it's a new booking, the e-ticket will be usually issued instantly as it's automatic. It's only when you make changes like this then the new e-ticket has to be manually re-issued.

Hi Pauline. Hope your problem gets sorted soon. I have never experienced a delay like this. As others have commented, the e-ticket usually comes thru via e-mail within an hour and then the cost of the fares are taken from whichever means of payment you used soon afterwards.
I made a telephone booking recently for flights to Los Angeles next March and my e-ticket came through promptly. I called the FC to make make arrangements on a Sunday evening at 10.45pm !!!
My son booked on-line for travel to Orlando next year and again everything was processed immediately.
It's also strange they haven't charged you for the flights either and you say it's over a week ago. Personally I would make other phone call soon. Don't forget the Flying club is available x 24hours.
Best of luck. Hev

Thanks all. I have spoken to VA again this morning and all is fine with the booking. They confirmed that a message went out this morning from ticketing saying there is a back log due to a lot of recent cancellations. The bookings in the next few weeks are obviously getting priority and so my one for December remains sitting in the queue. On the bright side, the money remains in my account a little longer...
