UC CDC range

I am booked into MAN on an I fare (so entitled to a CDC on arrival - don't want it in Orlando). My home address is within 75 miles radius of Manchester airport (but closer to 90 driven miles).
The VS website only makes note of the radius from the airport - but they want to charge me £35 for extra milage when I call them / attempt to book online. Has anyone got any ideas?
Emirates Chauffeur service has a similar radius restriction, but adds on 20 driven miles as the shortest route will not be the quickest

Could take a short train journey to somewhere within 75 miles of MAN? Assuming the train journey is less than £35!

I always thought VS was driven miles and EK radius.

VS provides a 75 mile radius from the airport,
check out the FAQ on their websiteIf you are within that radius there shouldn't be an extra charge.
Call VS back and let us know how you get on, stay strong - they owe you the 75mile CDC radius for you booking an I fare

I stand corrected. There's also a post
here about getting a CDC back to Milton Keynes and being told it is radius that matters.

Are you travelling on your own ? This may not be the case anymore, but when we were beyond the radius we weren't charged extra because there was two of us both entitled to 75 miles. Or were we just very lucky & someone who didn't know the rules allowed it ?!

Not a VS experience, but we were initially told by EK that for our trip to LGW a week Sunday as there were four of us travelling together, each eligible for a 75 mile radius trip, there would be no extra charge to cover the few extra miles. They changed their mind when we came to book the car though....

Just had a long call to Upper Class Support. They are sticking 100% to 75 miles (they are not saying driven, just claiming that radius is not from A to B in a straight line, which to me & Google it is).
They don't dispute that my postcode is within 75 miles of the airport. As I do not benefit from a direct road from the airport to my house, the driven miles come in at just over 80. For this they want £35.
Would not mind too much, but I do not want any ground transportation in Florida (I could request a pickup from near Tampa to Orlando) but they are trying to rip me off for a few extra miles in the UK. The VS website clearly mentions radius, not driven miles. If it said the latter, I'd not have a leg to stand on - but it says radius.

Well I've not had the promised reply that I was promised in my conversation with the Upper Class support rep!
Does anyone have a better email address to use than the
[email protected]? I did get the staff members managers' name, but they allegedly have no email address (big fib methinks).
Failing that, maybe an email to Craig Kreeger may do the goods - or at least get a response.

Try tweeting them. They're usually very good at responding.

They have backed-down "for this booking only" as their website is unclear. Apparently requests have been passed through to the relevant teams to update the website / make the difference between radius & driven miles clear.
So I have got my CDC with 83 driven miles (yet well under 75 miles radius). Talk about playing hard-ball.. on an I fare and only wanting one of the the 2 CDC legs I em entitled to. They tried every trick in the book to charge me £35 for 8 miles over 75 driven miles (yet well within a 75 mile radius).
Was on the phone to them for 30mins+ too "discussing this" - is this really the level of Upper Class support that Virgin claim to offer?

Not sure what's unclear about the term "radius"? Perhaps it's all that modern maths they do nowadays .
Just as a point of comparison EK's CDC service manages the distinction easily. In some cities it's explicitly driven miles, in others it's radius. This enabled us to use it a few years ago to and from LHR which for us is just with 70 miles radius but more than 70 driven miles.
The VS excess mileage charge seems a bit steep too. We are using the EK service to LGW tomorrow and for 4 of us we are being charged just shy of £30 for 16 miles over the 70 mile radius.

And bl00dy hell to the VS IT people - they have already updated the website to state it's 75 driven miles from the airport in the UK for a CDC.
That has got to be a record - the UC CS Rep I spoke to said she was raising requests to get the website updated & that was only a few days ago. The IT hamster had better have a nice long rest now!
