Hi All
Just booked 2 PE seats to Delhi and then back from Dubai for a great price, now when i login to my VA account i am able to partake in an upgrade bid! Can you please explain how this bidding process works as i have not seen it before and it does interest me?
Thank you

well like it says on the tin. You put in a cash bid for an upgrade to UC.
The person who bids the most gets the upgrade.
But unlike a proper auction there is no back and forth between bidders.
From what other people have said there is usually an indication of what the minimum bid is when it appears.

I have never tried it but I also suspect that if a certain price is not offered then the seat is not released for upgrade.

I have just had my bid excepted *whoop whoop*
Was flying Economy, bid the lowest amount possible for upgrade to PE.
Would of cost me 1/2 my bid in extra luggage fees

It might just have been the route, but when I did it, the minimum bid was pretty much the difference in price to a one way upgrade. No bargain to be found there. From the few others I've read about, it's more a marketing gimic, and no real saving, though would be interested to hear if there is a bargain.

I think it depends on the flight, my last flight I was offered initially to bid £250, which was about the upgrade price but closer to the time they reduced the lowest bid to £100 so I suspect they had some seats to shift and had oversold economy.

My Economy flight was £500 all in (one way) Return is booked using miles. - The PE price is at £1,300 - so I was very happy to pay the £165+ taxes upgrade fee. Agree with what you are saying though re oversold seats theory.
This is an unexpected holiday. From time of booking to flight will be less than 7 days so I was expecting to pay silly money for flights during school holidays.
