FC AU renewal companion Ticket

PostPosted: 14 Oct 2004, 12:43

Hi I got my new Gold card yesterday
I get a companion ticket as its a renewal.
I was thinking Sydney would be max value!
I assume though it wont be good for SYD as I guess that's counted as two legs each way[?]

Correct - you need two. Take a look at:

Thanks,

When I got my first renewal companion reward I asked if it ever expired. The answer I was given was "No". I haven't looked for T&Cs, but you never know your luck. Save up for two years...

Anyone tried to keep an Au renewal for more than a year???

Err... not correct. See Sydney mileage information which says:

GOLD COMPLIMENTARY COMPANION TICKETS
A flying club gold member can use their complimentary companion ticket (in the applicable booking class and subject to availability) on:

London Heathrow to Hong Kong roundtrip
Hong Kong to Sydney roundtrip
London Heathrow (via Hong Kong) to Sydney roundtrip
London Heathrow to Sydney roundtrip

So that looks like you can use your companion ticket on any of these roundtrips.

Hi BC,

That doesn't make sense, my info came from the Premier team and that page looks wrong - whu bother listing them in that format - you can't fly LHR-SYD direct (as the latter would indicate). Will check with Premier later.

Thanks,
Richard

The VS codeshare with Malaysian, accounts for the latter, I would presume. VS still see this as a Sydney route if you look atRoutes and destinations.

Given that a J return LHR-SYD via HKG is just north of £5K, and a Z fare is £3.3K, this makes the Gold companion award actually worthwhile... for most people LHR-JNB is the only other route where J < 2 x Z, so let's hope that the page is right.

Richard,
Did you clarify with the Premier Team?

I didn't think you could use a companion reward with a partner airline?

It seems strange though if you can codeshare all the way but not fly on VS metal?

I spoke to Premier very quickly as I am away on vacation at the moment - it would appear that at the moment you can use the Au Companion ticket for the full LHR-SYD routing.

Thanks,
Richard

Richard, thanks.

Folks: if, like me, you have a companion award burning a hole in your account, and you can lay your hands on 5 grand (by mortgaging your loved ones etc, etc.) then I'd suggest you get booking.

:)

What do us singletons do then? Go find someone we liked to be loved by and take them? :)

Any female takers out there? Thought not.

Thanks,
Richard

Michael will need the companion ticket anyway to quantify the sheer amount of alcohol he is likely to consume on the route....

Not sure what I'm going to do with my AU Companion ticket this year.

Thanks,
Richard

I wouldn't know what you could mean ;)[:I]:D

Since I only have to take my Xmas & March/April flights to requalify now, I've been thinking about what to do with the companion ticket already :D Was thinking about taking my neice to LAS, but she'll only be 19 then so not really a good idea.....ahhh, decisions, decisions :D

Cheers

Michael

Do you have many of these 'nieces'?

Don't forget that it is a federal offence to transport a minor across state borders for immoral purposes;).

Seriously, My 19 yr-old son has passed on trips to the US at the moment as he cannot, drink, drive or gamble

Pat

Nah, only one niece ([:p]) - she's already said she'd love to go when I've told her about LAS before (though I didn't offer to take her because of her age :D)...not so sure about the immoral purposes - I hope you're still meaning drinking & gambling? :D:D

Cheers

Michael
