Hi all,
We're searching for some advice as we are a little confused. We have booked a holiday to Cuba next year with Virgin Holidays via a store. The sales assistant explained we can upgrade using miles. We have enough miles to upgrade from economy to Upper. Is this a possibility as I heard if the flight is booked under X code then we are unable to?
Thank you
Gavla

We did this earlier this year, using miles to upgrade from economy to UC, but we did it in the store when booking the holiday. The agent phoned VS to confirm the availability and book the flights before she booked the hotel accommodation.

I understood that you couldnt use miles to upgrade flights booked as part of a VH package

Think it depends on "who you get" either on the phone or at the desk at the airport.
A friend tried to do PE-UC upgrades (one-way) on V-Hols booked tickets to NYC. All was going fine at the ticketing desk at Heathrow, miles amount+additional taxes all agreed for the upgrade. His card was all but in the card machine to pay when a supervisor walked by and clocked the V-Hols paperwork / ticket codes. The upgrade was off in an instant.

Thank you all.
We couldn't book the upgrades at the time as it was so far in advance. The VH advisor has placed the first date she can check for upgrades using miles in her diary so I'm hoping she knows what she's doidiar

That would be the difference in the dates where VH starts selling it's holidays and when VS puts flights up for sale.
VH sells holidays a lot more in advance than VS starts selling it's flights.

And yes VH booked flights (as part of a holiday) can be upgraded but it has to be done via VH

I have upgraded my flights booked with Virgin Holidays. It was not done by them. They said I had to have paid enough of the holiday in order to cover the flights and then they could issue the tickets. Once the tickets were issued, I could then call flying club and do the upgrade. They take a few days to issue the tickets, and once the flying club upgrade the tickets Virgin Holidays will be unable to make any changes to the flights.
