I planned and booked all my trips before the 13th November 2016 in order to achieve Gold Status, some that I have already taken this year and a few more flights early March 2017.
However, now that the new Tier changes take effect on the 13th November 2016, it seems like I would be worst off, under the new system in order to achieve gold (please anyone correct me if I'm wrong)
I hold silver status at present and currently have 11 Tier points
I need 4 Tier points to renew silver and 18 Tier points to reached gold

UNDER OLD TIER SYSTEM
Flights that I have booked are LHR --ATL --MCO return Economy class O = 6 Tier
MCO ----MIA return First Class = 6 Tier
MCO ---- ATL --- MEM return first Class = 12 Tier

Total of Tier Points 24 I will earn and reach gold under the old Tier system and I have already 11 Tier points.

UNDER THE NEW TIER POINT SYSTEM

400 points to renew or reach silver
1000 to reach or renew gold

I presently have 11 Tier points X 25 = 275
LHR---- ATL----- MCO Trip 4 Tier points X 25 = 50 for the Virgin Atlantic
2 Tier points X25 = 50 for the Delta
MCO ----MIA Trip 6 Tier points X 25= 150
MCO ---- ATL --- MEM Trip 12 Tier points X 25 = 300

275+50+50+150+300 TOTAL POINTS 825 Under the new Tier Points System.
so I will not reach gold status !!!!!!!!!!! (I'm I missing something) I need 1000 Points

I did call flying club t explain the above and they was just as confused as I was.
The Virgin advisor explained to me that because my Mco trip is Lowest fare I will only earn 50 Tier Points return trip on the Virgin Atlantic Leg as the flight is after the 13th November 2016 regardless if I already booked before that date, so I know I'm already Losing out.
As for the Delta trips I have already booked all in First Class, the x25 may change, (possibly higher) because it is first Class, but unsure how it will pan out as time goes on, but sympathise with my situation.
Please can anyone shed any light on the above , I know I have written a lot, but it was the only way for me to break it down.
Looks like I will be moving on after I have taken my flights with Virgin Atlantic, next year.

Virgin have said no-one will lose out if they've already booked by November 13th - ie the old earning rates will apply (x25) even if the flights are next year.

So you should be fine if you've already booked.

I hope so Gumshoe, but still a little confused, I just see what happens

Isn't 4 x 25 100 not 50??

That's what I thought, and I explained it to the advisor, but she was classifying me under the new system because my flight is after the 13th November 2016, even thought I Booked before that date . It does state on the Virgin Atlantic website

If you are flying after the 13 November 2016 and booked your ticket before this date, you will earn the maximum miles and tier points of either the old or new scheme based on the cabin and booking class of your ticket. This ensures that if you have an existing booking, you are not worse off because of these changes. If you are flying after the 13 November and book your ticket after 13 November, you'll earn based miles and tier points based off the new earning rates.

As long as i reach my gold status i will be fine. i do not understand the math in my situation, especially for partner Airlines

Hi Biscuit

I'm not sure your inital logic is correct (and please accept my apologies if I have misunderstood you).

You are currently silver status
You have 11 TP, so you are correct that an additional 4 TP will renew your silver status. But an additional 18 will not get you to gold.

You need 40 TP in total to reach gold, so that would be another 25 TP.
(11 + 4 + 25 = 40)

So if you were expecting to get a further 24 TP you would still be 5 TP short of gold under the old system.
(11 + 24 = 35)

Does that make sense?

Sorry I Should've explained I'm including my 15 points when I reached silver in March 2016 within my membership rolling 13 month year to hit Gold

update apologies . I have noticed that Virgin Atlantic have 22 tier points within my membership year.
Total Tier Points earned within Current Membership Year. 11 Tier Points are earned on Virgin Atlantic and selected partner airlines.
Total VS Tier Points earned within Current Membership Year. 10
I just hope that VS will X the 10 by 25 then I will definitely hit gold, but at the moment they are only X the 11 tier points. Sorry fo the confusion
