Still no champers on some UC flights?

I remember mention of a sparkling wine being substituted, perhaps as a trial, sometime earlier this year or last year.

Is this still true of some flights? Dreamliner? A300?

I think this is still the case for all 787 flights isn't it? Something to do with the different cabin pressure of the 787.

That doesn't sound too plausible an excuse, was drinking that in Club coming back from San Jose.

The 787's are back to having Champagne. The English Sparkling was a introduction thing to do with the lower cabin pressure. Its been Gardet for a while now on my last 10 flights.

To be perfectly honest, describing Gardet as a champagne is pushing the boundaries.

The moment that VS return to Landon (or similar) on board cannot come too soon

I always ask for a glass of Prosecco instead of Gardet

Region - check
Method - check
Grape varieties - check

Do you like it - possibly not.

£29 a bottle for Gardet?

If anyone is tempted to spend more than £5 on that awful plonk then please get in touch as I have some lovely magic beans to sell you too.

They must get it at a discount, otherwise they'd buy a decent tasting one, right? Someone must taste this after they buy it.

The Champagne Jaquart from the clubhouse is so much better than the Gardet rubbish.
They'd be much better off serving a decent sparkling wine, cremant or cava rather than cheap and nasty Champagne.
But then maybe too many value style over substance...

We have decided to travel PE this year instead of UC - this is due to the lack of CH at Manchester and the dreadful Gardet!!

Gardet is the reason I spend the majority of my flights sober these days. I'll always indulge in the lounge where they still serve up Lanson, but on board - no chance that diabolical brew passes my lips.

I too think Gardet is awful and always ask for Prosecco instead. After every flight I always email Crawley and tell them ghastly Gardet taints the Virgin brand

Downside to using pretentious BS companies to determine onboard products, rather than those who actually drink the products.

So the current champers onboard is terrible is it? Across all the fleet at the moment?

Comparing it with the BA Club/Galleries selection? Monopole until recently? Was it Castlenau they replaced it with?

Never been much of a connoisseur of champagne. Cold, wet, fizzy and tastes ok is ok with me. I was fine for instance with Monopole on BA CE, but Castenau tastes of crap to me as a heathen.

Still, will drink it for a while I suppose, given that it's the pre flight departure drink...

The 787 still seem to sometimes serve the sparkling wine, I find it hit and miss. Although more often that not this year its been Gardet.

Long gone are the days of Lanson on board, went down so much better! I suppose one could always tell the waiting staff to leave the bottle in the CH and then take it with you :-D
