V-Flyer

Hi all,

On VS138 in a couple of weeks and unfortunately the seat map is only showing 8/9K or 1/2A at the moment (2 of us travelling). I'm wondered what is the better combination (if any). The middle rows look wide open at the moment, but I'd prefer the longer seat. Question is, do I put up with the bar, or the galley?

Any experiences?

For us, if it is 8/9 A as the title stated then that is what we always go for.

Yes, it is near the bar and 9A does not have a window, but the seats are wider and afford more privacy than the seats facing the middle.

That said, if it is 9K, then this has the bar storage adjacent and this is much of a distraction as the bottles are taken out and returned,

Yep, we always try for 8A and 7A but will take 9A if 7 is taken. I prefer to be at the back and the lack of window in 9A isn't a problem and it does have a very private feel to it.

I've been in 1A and had no issue with the galley - it's not like the entrance to it is right next to you, it's behind the curtain facing forward.

Plus there's the benefit of only having one person sitting next to you and not really overlooking anyone in the D seats.

Thanks! Interesting some members prefer 9A when it's been reported that it's loud and busy, although I guess it depends how many people frequent the bar on that particular flight.

Just returned - Seat 8A was absolutely fine.

I did notice that the main galley is at the front of the plane and there was quite a bit of doors opening and closing and food being prepared so will avoid the first two rows.

On my flat there seemed to be an extremely VIP guest who I didn't recognise but was served almost exclusively by the FSM. She was in 9A - and again, as the flight was in darkness she was not disturbed. Nearly everyone was sleeping and the bar was not in use.

During take off you could overhear crew gossip which could be construed as unprofessional but it was mainly about getting staff flights to the regions.

I don't think you have much to worry about in 8A. And I will repeat: the A330 "DreamSuite" is the best seat I have had on an aircraft.

Thanks Sealink! I've moved us from 1/2K to 8/9A based on everyone's thoughts.

Olisones I hope you enjoy your flight. I'm off in a few days on an A330 and we've our usual 7 and 8A, can't wait.
