Hi, what is Miami airport like these days?? Have not been for a few years and the last time I went I vowed never to go again!

It hasn't improved.

Enjoy the Florida sunshine as long as possible and check in as late as you dare.

Whilst parts of MIA have now improved, the concourse VS use hasn't, so as above avoid for as long as possible.

We flew UC into MIA in October. From plane to Uber in about 30 minutes - most of that was due to a long walk.

We were driving from Orlando on the way back and arrived with 80 minutes to kill at the airport. That's 80 minutes far too long. I imagine they use Miami airport for filming retro airport TV series.

It always seems an airport with work in progress but nothing ever looks or gets finished ... and the same goes for all the roads round it !!!

IMHO it's still dire. The departure lounge that VS uses is horrible.

Immigration can be a nightmare too. The walk from the plane to the immigration hall takes a good 15 mins and that's using the travellators available.

I think the answer is "variable" and "depends how lucky you are"

We go at the end of May every year, and in 2015 immigration was slow and the exit from the baggage area was horrendous with the longest / slowest queue I have ever seen at an airport.

Last summer was much better; we used the first immigration self service machines you come to as you approach the immigration area and there was no queue there; immigration was then pretty quick and the baggage collection and exit was pretty reasonable so hopefully 2015 was an exception.

Now that they have brought the flight times forward we'll find out if that makes the experience better or worse! I guess it all depends on what other flights come in at around the same time....

VS should maybe do some snuggling up with DL at MIA as aren't DL in one of the newly renovated concourses at MIA now?

I only have ever used it to get to Orlando if the MCO routes are pricey. Think I will just pay the extra!!!!

We flew in & out of Miami for the first time last year, it is as bad as everyone on here says, must be the worst airport we have ever visited. We are flying in & out again late Feb/early March & will certainly leave it as late as possible to arrive so that time spent in the shared VS lounge will be kept to a minimum.
