January 15th is the last day for booking reward redemptions at the current rates. The new system starts January 16th.

Anybody else done some last minute purchases?

I've grabbed some G's to PVG (going to connect to Tokyo), Would have cost me 35,000 miles extra if I booked the same flight tomorrow.

Worth noting that some UC redemptions do become slightly cheaper from Monday if travelling off-peak, notably Miami, Orlando, Cancun, Hong Kong & Dubai. And Delhi becomes cheaper both peak and off-peak. Everything else in UC goes up though.

Headforpoints has published useful comparison tables today if you're thinking of booking before the changes kick in tomorrow night.

Oh god that was painful to book! I bought 7k miles to get over the 80,000 I needed so am now wiped out.

I think any future VS bookings will be via Expedia, DL, man in the street - anything other than having to suffer the VS website!

No issues with the 5 week window. Lots of availability but far too many clicks to choose anything!

My flight outbound is an A330 yet the old seat map is displayed.

Yet the return is also an A330 but the new seat map is displayed!

I've chosen window seats so the change shouldn't affect me.

BUT no credit card fee charged for Virgin Amex. when did that change?

Good luck to anyone else doing a last minute booking!

VS stopped charging any credit card fees after the new system launched in November.

I have a one-way upper class booking just done today. Sitting in the queue somewhere (3 hours so far) waiting for ticketing I presume. Hoping this works ok.

You don't get a separate e-ticket email and a booking confirmation email any more now with the new system.

It's all in just 1 email which is a combination of both your booking confirmation and e-ticket now that is sent from [email protected]

Not for me, booked two flights last Monday for February, Shanghai and Hong Kong, website stated that it had sent me an email to confirm --- have received nothing, although showing in future flights, miles deducted etc

Do you see a 932 e-ticket number in the 'Passenger Details' section of your online booking (above where your Flying Club number) also your e-ticket number is found in the 'View receipt' section of the booking, or if using the app; when you expand the section where your name/seat number/cabin are located.

If so then you have been e-ticketed and you don't actually need anything else to fly anyway.

I never take e-tickets with me these days when I travel and simply check-in and the airport by just handing over my passport.

Ditto, although it is advisable to have a copy of the ticket saved on your phone or a printout in your bag in case immigration of the country you are visiting want to see evidence of a return flight. In all of my travels, I don't recall ever being asked for this, but I still always take one.

Thanks James,

All found now, I do indeed have a 932 e-ticket number, I should have looked closer at the site before commenting [I was not scrolling down in manage my booking to reveal whole page], however I never received an e-mail confirmation as website promised - not a problem or necessary now

OK, tomorrow is the day for redemption rate changes.

Does anyone know when this will occur. Will it be at 00.01, 08.00 or any other specific likely time?

I need to book some tickets in PE which will show a large reduction in points needed

I have 2 lots of black card premium vouchers, trying to work out whether it would be better to hold on to them or see if i can apply them to a booking i have already made - if thats even possible?

Are you existing bookings in Y? Then yes you can just apply them if there are upgrades available in PE.
If they are in PE already then it's more complicated as they will have to cancel the existing Y booking and redo it, but the big issue could be if the reward seats don't come back available.

Sorry to go a little OT but this just reminded me that I have on my FC statement "VAA Credit Card Econ>Premium Reward Upgrade"....How do I apply/access this? I didn't receive anything in the post.

There's no physical voucher, it just sits in your account. Just call Flying Club and ask to redeem it, in conjunction with either an existing or a new Economy reward booking.

There must be PE reward availability on your chosen flight to use it, which you can always check by doing a dummy PE reward booking online before you call.

Thanks, might be quite useful with the new lower Y redemption rates.

Hi James, whereabouts is the "view receipt" section? I recall this button just after the website changes but I no longer see it on either of the two bookings I have?

Thanks
