5 weeks ago I cancelled a part reward flight booking (kept the outward leg, cancelled the return) finally had my refund this week to find it was for only £13
Now when I booked the flight I payed £200 as well as the miles, £100 of which I know is virgins fee (£50 each flight) and refundable if cancelled, not sure what the exact taxes worked out were on each part, I was told the charge to cancel/make changes was £25 and they'd deduct that from the refund, which means surely I should have got at least £25? They seemed to have worked my refund out by also keeping what the new taxes are rather than when I booked, surely that's not right?
Anyone had any similar issues?

It could be right, depends on how much of the £200 was APD.

What class were you flying and (so we can do a dummy booking to see the YQ) what route was it?

They likely repriced the flight from a return to a one-way.

The VS surcharges are often different on a one way (more) than simply dividing a return by 2.

APD only applies on ex-UK flights (£73 for economy). Airport fees also come into it. Both are fixed amounts and apply whether it's a one-way or return flight.

If you could post the fare breakdown it might help us work out what you should have got back.

It's Econ LGW -MCO and the MCO to LGW was the portion cancelled, to be honest I'm not that fused because the difference is hardly huge it's just the principle of not being refunded the correct amount (if that is the case)

I can't post the breakdown of my original booking because it's no longer listed, just the one way now with a new ref, it seems they have cancelled the original booking and rebooked a one way, meaning I've now been charged the higher fess as they'd increased since I initially booked, thankfully they didn't charge more miles as I booked during a reward sale.
So looks like they've taken the carrier imposed £50 from the cancelled flight, deducted the fee for cancelling, taken the difference for the new taxes/charges and then given me what is left

Different from the OP, but here's my refund question...

Is it possible to book award travel on the website, where the trip includes 2 children under 16, and then call in to have VS refund the ADP on the 2 kids?

I'm in a fun situation where the website can't price the children properly and the call center doesn't see the award availability I see (and can get all the way to the payment screen) online.

In the example above I would expect £341.2 - £217.22 = £ 123.98 but it doesn't work like that because some of the fees are applied in 1 direction only, eg, USA arrival fee.

The actual calculation is £341.2 - £217.22 = £ 123.98 but then you still have to pay £3.20, £5.70, £4.50 and £14.60 bringing the refund amount to £95.98

Then you subtract £25 cancellation fee and end up with £70.98

Now, that's using the current tax figures. In your example you seem to have a very, very low YQ figure around £50 where the example I used had £101.50. That would mean a refund would be substantially lower. Therefore, £13 doesn't seem impossible to believe.

My YQ amount is over as it was and I thought still £50 each way, meaning initially I paid £100 for that section, the fees I listed are for my new one way flight.

I just checked some random dates and found it still seems to come up as £100 for a return and £50 for a one way for me
