It seems that since they have now included the new economy options you can no longer select the fare class of your ticket in search! i.e. you could exclude the lowest fare classes that were not eligible for mileage upgrade.
I also cannot see where these fare classes have gone! Has it all changed?

Was trying to post a screenshot but currently the VS website isn't accepting LHR or BOS as destinations and won't autofill when you type London.

Tried a different browser. Yes, the fare class selection is gone.
However, that's because all Economy Classic and Economy Delight can be upgraded with miles.
You are now presented with three fares, Economy Light can NOT be upgraded.

Annoyingly, Premium Economy still shows "Eligible Fares Only"
The new table is very helpful. For example, for the A330-200 it mentions "Social Space - All except A330-200" for Upper.

I did a dummy booking for a random week LHR - JFK in June and looks like the price difference (for this particular journey) was:
Econ Light - £449 (earns 25% miles)
Econ Classic - £509 (earns 50% miles)
Econ Delight - £609 (earns 150% miles)
So £60 and £160 respectively to move up. No option with earning 100% miles though.

Curiously it looks like "standard" PE fares (K & H) give 100% miles, with flexible fares (S & W) offering 200%. So Econ Delight offers more miles than PE at a lower cost...?

The 150% miles for Economy Delight is a little bizarre...

So can all PE fares now be upgraded?

This page
https://www.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/fl ... ights.html would certainly seem to imply all PE fares are upgradable.
Interesting that Economy Classic and Delight are the same cost to upgrade from.
One curious omission. You don't seem to be able to use miles to upgrade from Classic to Delight. I would have thought that particular upgrade would be popular with flyers whose employers have an Economy only travel policy. Perhaps VS have calculated they can sell the extra legroom seats for cash.
Finally, the upgrade price from Economy to Upper is MORE than the sum of the upgrade from Economy to Premium then Premium to Upper. I wonder why that is?
Edit:
If you’re planning to travel during our peak season, you’ll need to spend an additional 10,000 miles on top of the miles shown below for a standard season reward upgrade to Premium. If Upper Class is more your style, you’ll need 15,000 more miles to upgrade from Economy Classic or Delight to Upper Class.
It doesn't say anything about the additional cost of Premium to Upper during peak season.

I called them and no not all PE fares are upgradeable and the rules still apply.
But... the website does not let you filter out the cheaper fares so they suggest calling up!

They are on dodgy ground with that approach. The only exclusions on the website are:
*Available on purchased tickets only. This applies to tickets issued on VS/DL paper only.
Upgrades are not available from Economy Light.

This seems to suggest that you can use miles to upgrade tickets booked through Delta, which I didn't think was possible. I'm on DL 4348 (VS105 metal) in 2 weeks, and see G's available. Are we really able to use VS miles to upgrade a DL ticket?
