The Ts&Cs say you get all your miles re-credited so long as you cancel > 24 hours before but do you also get the taxes back? I assume so but just want to be sure given the taxes/fees etc. are about £600.
Thanks!

Yes you do, less a £30/$50 cancellation fee.

The taxes are due to be refunded if the flight isn't taken by you in all circumstances (less admin fee).
However, it might be an idea to check with VS before you cancel on the status of refunding the YQ (fuel and insurance surcharges) which is not technically a 'tax', more a charge levied by the UK airlines to really squeeze the pennies on reward bookings.

As I said above, you get ALL the taxes & fees refunded, including YQ, less the cancellation fee.
I did it earlier this year without any issue.

Cheers for the clarification gumshoe, the T&Cs on the VS website don't exactly spell it out do they.

I can concur. When I cancelled my reward flight last year I was refunded everything less the admin fee
(and with my pedantic hat on the VS surcharge isn't a tax!)
