V-Flyer

I happened to be in Shannon this afternoon and snapped this... It's last nights MCO-LGW G-VLUV which apparently had smoke within the aircraft. Here's the AVHerald http://avherald.com/h?article=4bc2c460&opt=0 for anyone interested.

So an A333 diverted to Shannon and the passengers were rescued by a 787-9 and taken to Gatwick (the first visit of a VS 787 to Gatwick) and now yesterday a 332 diverted to Shannon, VS34 from Antigua (smoke indication in the hold) and its passengers were rescued by an A346 and taken on to Gatwick.

They just need a 747 to visit to complete the set!!

The Mirror headline is ridiculous! "Lands in the wrong COUNTRY" makes it sound like the flight crew had no idea where they were going instead of ensuring the safety of all on board by landing at the first possible point after crossing the Atlantic! Could you imagine the headlines if the flight had continued for the hour or so over Ireland and the UK with people suffering from smoke inhalation - or worse, that fire did break out during that hour?

And as for wrong country, we're next-door neighbours not some remote far-flung region!
