A quick hello from the Escape Plus lounge at MAN

A quick trip to JFK on the VS127. Nothing much has changed here in the lounge since I last used it. Warmly welcomed by a member of VS staff as I arrived.

Pre-booked parking in the T2 multi-storey carpark linked to terminal as it actually wasn’t a whole lot more expensive any of the other car parks here!

Just as a side note, I ended up completely missing the priority security line in T2.....which actually is usually not a bad thing as anyone who uses MAN will know! I was through standard security in under 5 minutes anyway.

Also got the completely expected SSSS as I couldn’t do OLCI yesterday giving me a message something about ‘government checks’ and ‘needing to see an agent at the airport’ ......or something along those lines anyway!

how was t2 at Man whilst they're on with the extension/remodel? Are most of the shops and restaurants still open?

There's not much noticeable from the inside of the terminal so far. Some of the gates have been closed / demolished but all in all you actually won't see much different (yet). That is bound to change though as the development continues.

Not the best of pics, sorry, but I took this as we pushed back and taxied from T2, you can see the new build in the background. From there it looks nearly complete.

thank you!

We fly next Sunday and my old man has got his eye on a bottle of whisky so I was just fretting over whether any more of the shops had closed - I remember the Cafe Nero had gone (or moved perhaps?) when I was in T2 back end of last year.

The winding 'yellow brick road' trek though the duty free in T2 is still as annoying as ever!!

I believe the Caffe Nero has moved and is an 'Express' outlet. The Nero in landside arrivals is still there.

That nonsense seems to be spreading to other airports as and when they are redeveloped. I flew out of Faro in May for the first time in nearly 3 years and the first time I had been through it since they redeveloped it. The duty free used to be in the main departure lounge, but now they've moved it so you have to walk through it as soon as you go through passport control after coming down the escalators from security. Terminal 2 at Barcelona has a similar setup where you have no choice but to walk through duty free straight after security.
