Expiring miles (I’m sure this has been asked before)

I’m so sorry to ask but I performed a search and couldn’t find anything!
I have some Virgin miles which will be expiring at the end of the month due to inactivity.
If I purchase some miles for £15- will it reset the timer again?
Thanks in advance,
LG

Yes it will....
As will any mileage credit to your account such as credit card transactions etc!

When do they expire?
If you have a few months to run, I'd personally go to
https://shop.virgin-atlantic.com/en/ and if there are no shops where you actually want something, just head to eBay and buy the cheapest tat you can find.

The cheapest, and easiest (IMHO), way of doing this is purchasing a train ticket through the Virgin Trains website. I use West Coast, not sure if East Coast earns miles. But you can buy say a £5 ticket, sometimes even cheaper, and it will post miles to the account. You don't even need to take the train, it will post a couple of days after the date of travel.

Be careful using Shops Away as transactions can often take some time to track and then post miles to you FC account.
East coast line franchise changes more often than train time tables change and is now LNER and no longer earns FC miles (nor can you spend them now either).
You do need to spend over £1.00 though to earn miles on Virgin Trains. As a local example, I can see a one-way Colne to Nelson child's train fare for £1.05 earning you 1 whole mile

Virgin trains Cheapest routes include stoke on Trent to Manchester and Edinburgh Haymarket to Waverley. Look at the route map for two stations close together and have a play in the search engine to find prices.
I also think it needs to be a train operated by virgin trains not just sold by them. I was caught out by that once when my ticket included part of the trip being on another train company so no miles for me.
You need an ‘advance’ ticket for the miles to post quickly.
