Premium Reward Upgrade Expiry ?

Hi

Does anyone know if there is an expiry date on the Premium Reward Upgrade and also the Companion Flights ? Also as a side questions, can the two be combined ?

Looking at my statement I can see :
02 June 2018 VAA Credit Card Econ>Premium Reward Upgrade x2
6 December 2017 VAA Credit Card Companion Flight Qualification

Sadly for me (i guess), I can also see the same for 2017 !

I've used Virgin during this time, I just used my accrued points to obtain the Premium Upgrades rather that the reward (VAA Credit Card Econ>Premium Reward Upgrade x2). Its my fault for not checking my statement closely, I just check the balance and not the transactions - however you'd think VA would tell me i had a reward available at the time of booking.

So, yeah some clarification on the expiry and whether the rewards can be used together would be helpful

Thanks

The PE upgrade vouchers expire a year after you earn them, and you can book any bookable flight in the future up to that point. I've used 1 this year, got another booked next May and still have 2 more which will probably go to waste.

Not too sure how the companion voucher works buts it's generally viewed as useless due to the fare buckets you have to book into.

From the t & c page

Rewards will be credited to your Flying Club account and will show on your Flying Club statement within seven days of being earned. They’ll be available for use as soon as they show on the Flying Club account.
Rewards are valid for two years from the date of issue. Flight rewards cover a round trip. The Premium upgrade reward may be taken as a round trip, or used to upgrade two one-way flights.

The companion vouchers are now okay as you can use them on UC I fare bookings. You can normally get to NYC for £1,900 on an I dare, so you effectively end up with two UC return seats at £1,200ish each.

2 Years, oh OK that sounds a bit more appealing. Do you have a link the t&c's please ?

Thanks

I think the current T&Cs showing 2 years relate the the new Virgin Money cards.

From memory if the reward (whether Companion or PE upgrade) was from the old MBNA cards they were only valid for one year from date of award. The PE awards were credited on card anniversary date whilst the Companion was credited as soon as earnt.

Yes, ScoobySu is correct: the old MBNA companion and upgrade vouchers were both valid for one year.

So you have until 5 December 2018 to redeem your companion voucher and 1 June 2019 to redeem your upgrade vouchers. The actual flights, of course, can be later than that - you just have to book by those dates.
