Seasonal daily route starting 24th May 2019 using the 757.

Not directly related, but I wonder how long it will be before VS or DL announce year-round MAN-BOS, particularly given that Thomas Cook are pulling out? Conscious there's the not-so-small matter of getting the 787 engine issues sorted first.

Delta really have their sights set on Boston as a hub. I have a feeling the DL/VS joint venture are seeking to dethrone BA in the UK-Boston market. Which would explain the new second VS daily LHR-BOS and the extension of the MAN-BOS route to three times weekly.

I wish them the very best and hope they can make it work. I am taking the EDI-JFK route on Delta in December. I believe it sells very well.

I have just seen the article mentions it will be a double daily service in the peak summer months. I am sure Edinburgh Airport will be happy with this as well given they have lost some big names lately.

Wouldn’t work. This route is aimed at Americans flying to Edinburgh, not Scots going to Boston. And Americans tend to prefer their own airlines, as we do ours.

To be honest, the 757's DL will use on this route are fine. I flew on them in Economy a few years ago when DL operated MAN-JFK and I wrote some trip reports which are here and here. I can't speak for their business cabin, but if Upper and/or Premium are pre-requisites then connecting options via MAN and LHR for VS-operated flights are available.

The flight times also suggest this, looks like they're also after people connecting in Boston rather than point to point.
