V-Flyer

It's live now. Only seen East Coast so far, but still searching. 2 UC return fares for £2018, over Christmas, New Year and select dates in Jan.

Ummm'd and ahhhh'd for a while but we just booked. 3 nights in Orlando departing on Dec 24th at the Hyatt Regency (deluxe balcony room) for £2,180 for the two of us. It's hard to say no at these prices.

Some of us would prefer they priced these things as £1009 per person so solo flyers and families with odd numbers can benefit from these offers.

+1 to that sentiment, though, I seem to recall this type of 2 for a price or two for one offer has appeared before on both VS and BA and is very frustrating for single travellers or even couples travelling on mismatching outward/return legs because of work commitments. I'm sure the marketing gurus will have an explanation but it does very often annoy me.

Can't grumble all the time, though, as off with 4 friends on the no single supplement Amresorts promotion to Breathless and Secrets Saint James in Montego Bay in a couple of weeks as 1 couple and 3 singles .... so some companies do remember the single traveller.

Very simple - it’s to stop business travellers, who invariably travel solo and whose employers can and will pay higher fares, taking advantage of a deal aimed squarely at leisure travellers.

Was this only available in the wee hours of the morning? I can't really find anything anywhere...

Yes that has been one explanation but it is to me a very thin one.

They can put in restrictions in to the fares such as Saturday night and Sunday night stay and a minimum length stay.

Also most business people book close to their dates whereas leisure travellers (like me) book farther in advance.

Fare rules such as (and yes I admit they suit MY travel plans) these ...

Must book 6/8 weeks in advance, include a Saturday AN|D Sunday, out AND in bound must be on a Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday

The advance purchase rules often seem to out the window though when it comes to VS special offer fares.

As far as I'm aware all VS Z fares still come with a 42 day advance purchase rule i.e. they have to be purchased at least 6 weeks in advance don't they?

Any remaining departure dates for 2018 are now all less than 42 days away.

In the past I've grabbed a return Z fare during a sale with a departure date < 42days away.

A few dates mid-Jan to MCO for £2600.
A few dates mid-Jan to MIA for £2020.
ATL, BOS & NYC is coming in at £2000 over Christmas / New Year Period.
Minimal flights to IAD for £2020 between Christmas and New Year.

Let me know if you can't find them.

I can't see anything from Manchester.

We booked via eBookers to take advantage of the flight & hotel deal.

So pleased I booked, mainly as I had the dreaded pain of dropping the family off at the Upper Class Wing this morning.

Remember this is primarily a BA offer so you may have more luck with them.

That's the problem though - they aren't doing the deals for solo travellers! in the current sale.

Final notable mention for SFO, £3,000 for two on select dates.

Also good deals for Jamaica next year, a couple I am tracking for <£1200 each, only thing is you'd have to stop in JFK or BOS on the outboutnd so it routes via LHR but I quite enjoy a few days in the city before the beach!

Haven't looked at VS, but the BA fares work as 2+ travellers. That still leaves solo travellers behind though!
