Travelling AMS - LHR - HKG and rtn.

AMS - LHR BA
LHR - HKG on Virgin

One overall six figure booking number as was one ticket , but also different booking ref for BA and VIrgin rtn legs

I’ll be getting out at LHR on way back

Given different airlines, and that they can’t check me through at AMS to HKG (and I obv change terminals LHR), do I need to start from AMS or can I joint VS at LHR.

Hand luggage only

Thanks - I always thought had to start at ticketed origin and I know that is case when all through on BA. But the different booking refs made me think ...

PS it was very cheap for business/upper all the way. As is ex FRA

We flew DUB-LHR-LAX in May this year and we couldn’t checkin for our VS LAX flight until we’d completed the first BA sector. This was the first time that we encountered that warning.

If you miss the first leg you risk the entire itinerary being cancelled. It may not but are you prepared to risk it? I certainly wouldn’t be!
