Hello all and merry Christmas from a bustling Heathrow clubhouse. Smooth train journey from South Wales to Paddington this morning, a quick hop on the Heathrow express, swift check in, we were the only ones in security. Straight to clubhouse, treatments ordered, champagne in hand and snacks ordered. Devastated the sausage rolls no longer on menu!! Will have some lunch later. Off to Cape Cod and Boston for Christmas and New Year. Merry Christmas to all v-flyers across the world. X

Hi WalesFlyer
Do you know the Cape well ? If not and you are staying in Chatham, may I recommend a wonderful restaurant in the town called the Impudent Oyster. My missus and I have had many great meals there. Also, please say hello to our favourite beach, Newcombe Hollow , which is a few miles down the road. Oh and the Audubon Bird Sanctuary which is even closer to you.
We have been staying on the Cape each October for the last 14 years now so I have many recommendations if you need them.
Have a wonderful time in one of the most delightful places on this Earth. I have big travel envy.
Happy Christmas.

It's our first time but love it already. We have reservations for the impudent oyster on Boxing Day. Tonight we are eating at the wild goose, Christmas Day in Chatham bar inn. Our plans are lots of walking on empty beaches, relaxing and eating! We drove the 6a to get here stopping off along the way. We are definitely going to head up to Provincetown, and also maybe across to Nantucket weather permitting. We don't mind that it's quiet and lots of things closed.

Hi Walesflyer
Enjoy dining in Impudent on Boxing Day. We know you will.
If you like deserted beaches then in our opinion nothing beats the truly spectacular Newcomb Hollow Beach. It is breathtaking and you can walk for miles and enjoy the big Atlantic rollers whooshing in on a stormy day. It's about 7/8 miles up the road from you at Chatham. We often walk there in October and it's deserted then so I think you will find yourselves completely alone apart from the odd local walking their pooch
Just before the turn for Newcomb Hollow is a turn on the opposite side of the Main Road to the Audubon Bird Sanctuary. This is a lovely place where you can walk down to the seas edge on marked paths. It is very special, very quiet and remote and I think you would love it.
And as you like relaxing and eating a bit....like the two of us !.....I hope you don't mind if we recommend a couple of restaurants. Our favourite on the Cape is "Jimmy's Hideaway" , situated in Provincetown. It is a real gem of a place that serves wonderful grub and is very cosy and charming, especially on a cold December night. And if Jimmy is there to meet and greet so much the better.
Down the main street in Provincetown from Jimmy's is " The squealing Pig " A proper American bar serving great beer and tasty burgers and the freshest oysters.
Two of our other favourites are Blackfish in Truro and if you want a real splurge try PB's Bistro situated on the Main road just outside the village of Wellfleet. During the day PB's has a Boulangerie that sells wonderful breads, sandwiches and rolls and delicious pastries and cakes
I hope you don't mind me making these recommendations.
Have a wonderful time.
