Is this a fair UC price?

Hi

Hoping to book 2 flights this year.

1st - April -LHR to Delhi with Virgin -£2200. I then want to connect from here to Sri Lanka, not stopping in Delhi.

2nd - November LHR to Miami - £2100. I then want to connect somehow to Columbia. Ideally I want to do this trip in late December for 3 weeks, will the Jan flights be released before the Virgin sale ends?

Are these prices fair and is there an easier route to get from London to Sri Lanka and Columbia, mostly using Virgin.

Cant help on 1st one, but 2nd one - Miami is currently on sale for around £1600 return in November, depending on your dates.

£2100 is closer to what id pay for First Class than Business!

Delhi is pretty high, it's been down at 1600 previously.

I don't think thats a bad fare in its own right, its a about average for the cheapest fare to Delhi in Upper, but don't forget that as LREDI says, sale fares have existed about £1700 for Delhi.

Just remember that you will have to book the flights to Sri Lanka as well, and if you're booking them with a separate airline on a separate ticket if you have a misconnect in DEL you are screwed so I would allow plenty of time in Delhi, probably even a night. I had a quick look on Expedia, and a through ticket ticketed with Expedia was showing in the region of £7k each.

I did also remove the criteria of flying VS, and you can actually get a through ticket with China Eastern via Shanghai for £1900 although this seems like the long way around, its cheap. Ethiad and Qatar (I am a fan of neither!) are offering about £2.2k for business class.

Again, personally I don't think this is too bad, but I have seen MIA cheaper than that on several occasions, and as cheap as £1600 with dates around the 22nd November showing both Miami flights as around that price for both outward and return. Late December you will almost certainly get something cheap if you fly 23rd or 24th of Dec dependant on your Christmas plans! But the flights have only been released until the 1st Dec as we speak currently.

I wouldn't get too fussed about the current sale for Business Class you can get some real bargains as the business travellers with the really high fares tend to be out of the mix and off for Christmas, so there's more inventory to sell. I got San Fran for £1700 flying out just before Christmas in Upper!

Hold fire on that Miami flight.

What are your Miami range of dates and range of duration?

If you depart on the 19th (7, 8 or 9 nights) or 20th (6, 7 or 8 nights), you can get it for £1,547.

Loads more in the month for £1,610 too.

Will I have to wait for the next sale to see if the Delhi price drops to roughly £1700 or can it drop further within this current sale?

It’s not always restricted to sale time, more demand. You may actually find post sale it reduces eventually. Just keep an eye on it.

Miami isn't that low currently, but gives an idea of current sale prices to various destinations. Can be had cheaper than these too, starting in INV to save on APD. e.g. INV-LHR-BNA-LHR is about £1600 in First.

Delhi in BA F is £2484 in April
