Booking reward one way Vs return

Hi All

We've been busy collecting miles ahead of our honeymoon in January next year. Looking at dates some are already available, is it worth booking one way now and the return in a week or so time for two upper to Miami or should we wait until we can book a return (would that use fewer miles?)

Thanks

Mileage would be the same but the cost would be a lot cheaper to book as a return!

Also the risk of outbound not being available when you come to book return

There have been a few threads on this in the past with useful information if you can search for them.
One point I seem to recall is people booking a very early return then when the date they want comes up phone in and change it. There may be a fee for the change, but it's a small price to pay for getting the seat you want.

Thanks for all your help. We booked the flights Saturday. Had a bit of a meltdown as nothing was available online and thought we we're going to have to go via Atlanta or NYC as the website was saying miles not valid on the route. However called FC and a really helpful guy just found the seats for us for one day later than we were looking.
Think the lesson learned is don't believe the website, you could get really disappointed - go for the personal touch....
