Female CC will no longer be required to wear makeup and can opt for trousers, too.

Plus the boys can now wear makeup / lipstick and nail varnish if they do wish

I understand that ladies have had the option to wear trousers for some time but they had to ask for them but now they will be issued with the other parts of their uniforms as standard.


I have no problem with CC needing to be well groomed but I'm glad the days of forced standards on lipstick etc are gone - have a 'if you wear lippy then it needs to be red and it needs to be XXX shade of red policy' by all means but that's all it should be.

I do think that some airlines do go overboard with how much makeup they require their female staff to wear and it looks more clownlike than professional

I had no idea there was a “must wear makeup” policy. It should have gone a long time ago.

I would say that airlines are generally well behind the curve when to comes to the whole getting away from "Sex Sells" attitude with regards to the appearance of their cabin crew . VS have in recent years started to come away from the "sexy" image.
