Best way to go east through virgin partners

Looking for best way to head to the Far East on VS or partners in J.

Thinking ex eu with Singapore would be cheapest but don’t know where to even start looking. Don’t mind where we start or fly too (all part of the adventure)

Has any one done something similar before or could give some pointers?

Looking for 2 tickets for less than 3k early next year (super flexible with dates)

I’ve just booked an Ex-EU to Singapore for an eastern adventure with Qatar... in Q Suites! (Points and tier points can be credited to BA Exec Club). Singapore is a fab hub to start at which can take you anywhere in Asia!

I’m starting the Ex-EU from Oslo which is a sub <2 hour, sub <£50 hop.

Oslo - Singapore (via Doha) is A350 each way, Q Suites for at least 1 leg each way, and can be picked up for £1,250 per person (LHR-SIN is currently £3,500 per person).

This route also gives you 560 tier points... 40 points shy of BA Silver status (which unlike virgin gets you lounge access!)

I know your question was using a virgin partner, and whilst I love virgin, with the way loyalty programmes are heading, I’ve become more open to branching out over the past few years!

Hope this helps!

My go-to is always Google Flights. You can set up searches to your specific requirements, such as a price limit, which airline/alliance, number of stops, set multiple "start points" and have it show you all possible destinations in the class you want.

Here, I've set up a search for you :-)

https://www.google.co.uk/flights/#flt=L ... b;sd:1;t:f

It's on random dates but you can have a play around!

Thank you to both of you! I am tempted by a Q suite

I’ve used google flights before but didn’t realise how much more it could do, my eyes have been opened :)

Just be warned that Qatar are notorious for aircraft swaps and there’s no guarantee that a plane fitted with Qsuites will operate even when advertised. Equally though you may get one when you’re not expecting one!

The Al Mourjan lounge at Doha is great when it’s quiet but a complete zoo when it’s busy (eg at 5am when the ex-EU red-eyes all land).

Another option is Air China which has some cracking ex-LHR fares to Asia in J this weekend.

We flew CPH to SIN to AKL return in Jan/Feb this year and paid just over £2500 each for return Business Class. A short hop to CPH on Easyjet on the way out and a similar short flight with SAS on way back and we earned points and miles on every leg apart from the E'jet one. Living under an hour from MAN it was easier ( and half the price) to use CPH as our 'hub' rather than LHR. Would do it again. Great seats with Singapore Airlines !

Been struggling with this myself as have been working in Thailand regularly since December. I ended up flying EVA Air and their business class is fantastic. Food is excellent, seat and service are great too. The other thing they seem to do on the 777’s i fly is that they close down the front galley and reduce to almost zero the traffic through the cabin. So even though they have herringbone layout, virtually nobody is walking about and i am regularly getting 5-6hrs of sleep on day and overnight legs. I am looking to find a decent option maybe via Singapore on next trip to spring my next flying club membership year off to a decent start. I flew BKK-SIN for a weekend with SQ and their 787-10 business seat and service was exceptional....

Absolutely thrilled! Just booked Stockholm - Singapore business class return for £1141 per person with QSuites on three of the four sectors and fast connections at Doha! Over the moon to say the least and very excited! Doing the same ex LHR on identicalt dates is currently £5292 per person!!

So we have booked now. Thank you all for your input! In the end we went for Stockholm to Auckland and then back to Copenhagen (with a 3 day stop in Singapore) £2300 a ticket with “feeder” flights. No crazy layovers and majority night flights which we r pretty chuffed about :)

Well done. Interesting reading! Am very tempted to do ex-EU but always worry that connection will fail and I will miss my biz flight. One day I’m going to try it!

We tend to position the evening before if the first sector of ex-EU is a morning flight,. Also always ensure there’s another positioning flight after the one you’re taking just in case, so you’re watertight!

Ah I see. Will have a look at that. We are starting to be more flexible with dates as DD leaves school in June and husband now gets 8 weeks leave. I might have to look at this option as the miles reward flights just don’t seem to be there these days....

The Qatar fares are also Avios & BA Tier Point earning, this trip alone falls only a tad short of achieving BA Silver in one go!

I looked at these offers but nothing to Malaysia, Thailand or Singapore - hence snapped up the QSuites on Qatar.
