Delta to Virgin at JFK

Hi all,

Got an interesting one that I can't seem to get an answer for.

I have a flight coming up booked via Virgin from YUL -> LHR. This goes via JFK and is Delta tin into Terminal 2 there. It is then VS154 back to LHR from T4.

There is conflicting reports about T2 being domestic only and so I am confused as this flight is inbound from Canada.

Anyway, what will I have to do with bags and transfer at JFK? I am used to the coming into the US, having to clear customs, placing by bag on transfer belt etc etc but with T2 being domestic will the bags be transferred over and I can then get the "Jitney" from T2 to T4?

Anyone done this routing before?

JFK to Montreal can, and does, use both Terminal 2 and 4. In Montreal you clear US immigration and customs at the Canadian end, so you are effectively arriving in JFK as a domestic flight.

My last travel on this route was 2 weeks ago, and I went out from T2 JFK, and back into T4 - but a different flight may well have brought me into T2. And Delta have a habit of changing which terminal they use for the flights.

For bags, coming back they were checked through to LHR with *no* need to collect and recheck because you effectively leave Montreal from US soil, having passed immigration and customs before departing Canada. This is *not* the case outbound. As normal with transiting through the US, for LHR-JFK-YUL you *will* have to collect and recheck bags.

Ah thanks,

That explains it then. I didn't realise they had the pre-clearance facility at Montreal but that makes total sense.
