Apologies if this is the wrong place to post, please let me know and I can post elsewhere.

In case you have not seen, Extinction Rebellion are planning a Heathrow drone protest on July 1st for 10 days.

This will no doubt cause major disruption.

I am due to fly on July 2nd. So wish me luck. :-O

The anti drone measures that are in place should be able to deal with it fairly effectively, the only problem will be if they choose areas further out than the airfield to affect approaches.

Can you elaborate further on what anti drone measures are in place? Because short of EMP's, or a well shot net, I can't see an effective way to stop them.

Heathrow and Gatwick have similar equipment to the RAF, which is ultimately a signal jammer and prevents the UAV from flying. The other measure is the main brands UAVs have a built in geo fence to prevent them from being flown in the relevant areas

That's really interesting to know. I wonder if they have taken any of that in to consideration.

On a side note, I believe their other plan is to block off the roads into Heathrow. Is there anyway to walk to the Airport and get across to T3? Or is it best to go away from the Airport and get the train in?

The only access to T2 & T3 is by road through the tunnel or by rail (tube, HEX or TfL). There is no pedestrian access.

The best route would be either go in from T4 or T5 and jump on the HEX to T3, or if you would prefer a little further out I would look at somewhere like Hounslow on the piccadilly line, Hounslow East may be the best option as it has a lift from memory.

I don't think that they will disrupt the airport, especially now that it has been put in the press, they tend to lose the public support for their cause when ordinary people are affected by their protesting

It does look like there is a lot of controversy surrounding their plans and people inside XR are evening questioning how good a plan it is. Still nice to have a plan of action in mind though to get round the protesters and to the Clubhouse! Just a shame if I don't get to experience the drive in to the Clubhouse.

For anyone following this thread, or worried by the news. XR have now cancelled their plans, but, will be rescheduling them.
