Hi,

I believe that you can now pre-order your meal from the UC menu and that you normally get an email to allow this three days before the flight.

We fly at 12:30 on Sunday (3 days away) and haven't seen an email.

Am I right in my thinking above?

Can this be done without the email?

Ok, it doesn’t appear that route is on the list I’m afraid - although MCO-BFS is.

We got our email Tuesday lunchtime for Fridays MAN - MCO

It maybe that the emails don't always get sent out exactly when the 72 hour period opens (note that's not the same as 3 days) so perhaps it's still on the way to you or is in your spam folder?

As I said above, pre-ordering is not available ex-BFS according to the list on the VS website.

So unfortunately there is not likely to be an email if the service doesn’t exist on the OP’s flight.

Thanks folks. Sounds like it is only flights from certain airports and Belfast isn't one of them.

Quick question - We are on the 181 man - lax in premium in just under 2 weeks, does anyone if this is available for premium economy?

No, only on select routes in UC

I’m sure I read somewhere that once it’s fully rolled out for Upper Class, meal pre-select would also start rolling out for Premium as well.

Can any one shed any light on how fast this roll out has happened?

Flying Joberg at end of September and hoping they will extend to this route by then.

Is still disappointing that they can’t extend their range and do a Singapore style “book the cook”

We flew premium on the 109 last week. 72 hours out had email asking us to preselect main meal choice. On the flight was served before other passengers who didn't seem to have pre selected. So may just be trialling the system.

VS where trialing this initially on just Upper Class flights from MAN at the end of 2018 as I remember getting it on the VS109 on Dec 28th.

Could well be, as it sounds like VS are using the MAN base again as their test-bed for Premium pre-select as well.

I presume this links from the emails are now fixed as it wasn't working the other week for a few of us?

DL are also doing the same for Delta One flights to/from the UK as well now as I got an email from them for the DL32 last week.

Worked at the end of last week for me.

Upper menu’s not the best I’ve ever seen and it looked like we were the only ones that had preordered

Yes it was launched in Premium Economy on 20th June on all routes from Manchester.

You will receive the email 72hrs before your flight providing that you have either booked direct with Virgin or you are a member of the flying club.

I’m flying LHR-JNB this Thursday in Premium and have just received a pre-select email.

Can confirm we received an email today for our Man-LAz flight on Tuesday in premium

Agreed... not exactly a scintillating selection to choose from for my LAS flight on Friday

We just got an e-mail for our flight to LAS on Sunday. The beef and chicken offerings weren't too scintillating (according to my OH), but he opted for the chicken. I don't eat meat or poultry but do eat fish, and luckily the fish option sounded great (yakitori salmon). My only gripe is that I accidentally selected the chicken under my name and couldn't find how to deselect it, so, in the end, I closed the window and opened it again through the e-mail in order to submit the correct thing. I probably missed a very obvious way to change it so it might be my fault, not that of the website!

I had an email yesterday allowing me to pre order for an LAX flight I have later this week, albeit in Premium, so maybe they're starting to roll this out to Gold's too...

Pre-order worked very well. Even changed seats just prior to boarding to see if that would mess the system up and nope, manifest was kept up to date and meal was offered just before the main meal service began.

Yes we received our menu email today for our Man - Atl flight.

Smoked Duck breast and walnut salad
Honey Roasted chicken with gnocchi
Tomato and mozzarella tortellini
Yakitori salmon with red rice

Made our choice So will see if it all works on Friday

Is that the current main course choice? Yuk - not my thing. Does anyone have the full current Upper menu ?

I am flying on Sunday so I’ll let you know the menu I get on my routes (LHR-EWR). Not particularly inspired by the above but will probably go for the chicken if those are my options....
