Access to VS NYC lounge when flying international Delta?

Hi all. we have a Delta NYC to MAD flight coming up, but only in Economy.
I can use the VS lounge in TX at JFK, as I'm Au, and take the wife too, correct?

Appreciate that Delta gates are at the other, far end of the T4 JFK terminal, but if early enough the delights of a pre flight glass of rose to start the holidays, are not to be missed!

Second Q: is there any discount for checked baggage as a VS Au on Delta? They want $60 per suitcase (!) and give their own Medallion members discount, maybe a VS partner Au should get a few $ off?! Or maybe not... :-|

Oof, just searched and found answer to (A) is positive., thanks!

The exorbitant baggage charge question remains...

As you are being charged for a bag on a transatlantic to Europe I assume the fare you have booked is Basic Economy? VS AU usually gets baggage privileges on DL but I don't know if this applies to their most basic fare. If you have Twitter, I would recommend sending a direct message to the Delta team on there - I have found them to be extremely quick and helpful.

Indeed Basic Economy, you got it. (too much of a bargain to pass up in peak summer!)

I called in to Delta yesterday (not on twitter) and after a crazy long hold got to speak to someone who was obviously disinterested in helping a basic economy customer asking about some kind of status parity (Vs Au to Delta Gold medallion) and she just acted like like this was all a scam. As my partner put it: why sell Basic Economy seats if you are going to be like this? Why have partnerships if there's zero reciprocity?

Lifetime Gold in VS is the top of the tree, (Uniq's notwithstanding...) and should = Platinum or Diamond medallion, but good luck with getting anyone to recognise that!

We'll see what passes at the airport. Not the end of the world if we have to pay, but I can't help feeling that Delta Medallion Gold/Platinum get the better deal if they fly Virgin..

It's fine. Holidays beckon, hurrah!

Ok. To update. Complete fail:

VS lounge access for Au's flying on Delta international 'non codeshare' flights are not allowed a guest. So my wife couldn't come in with me. So obviously we didn't go in.

Switch to Delta lounge (a big step down) Nope too. Just yourself as an Au + paid guest.. I have Amex Platinum but that too only allows 1 person + 2 paid for guests, @$29 each. Our 4yr old counts as full adult guest. Being as the Delta lounge is relative rubbish, we passed on this too. Sigh.

Flight (JFK to MAD) is oversold and many people are milling around hoping to find a seat. I officially hate Delta and will avoid if at all possible in future. Tragedy VS is aligned with this too large to care US airline.

Only positive was no baggage charges for 2 checked bags. A saving of $120. so that's something for being Au (=gold medallion) I guess.

We'll live. Just when you get used to turning left, it is a bit of a shocker!
