VS19 LHR - SFO - sleeping plan

Hi

I'm flying in December at 16.15 from LHR to SFO. It is due to arrive at 19.20 (3.20am UK time). On arrival I plan to transfer to my hotel and possibly in bed and tucked up by 21.30.

I'm travelling in Upper so I have the option of having a comfortable nap, so does anyone have any ideas how I should approach the flight re sleeping on board? I'm normally in bed by 10pm!

Thanks

I usually try and sleep for an hour so I’m not totally exhausted, but stay awake for the majority of the flight so I am super tired upon arrival and sleep through (hopefully as late as possible the next day!)!

VS19's departure, flight and arrival times are pretty good for adjusting your circadian rhythm to Pacific Time Zone, and the direction of travel results in less disruption than the return trip.

As chrisfinch_2000 suggests aim for a nap if you are feeling tired but do this in the first 7 hours of the flight, and ask a member of the cabin staff to wake you after 90 minutes as you do want to be tired when you arrive.

Keep yourself well hydrated.

Don't drink too much alcohol (Clubhouse included).

Avoid coffee, tea and other caffeine containing drinks after the meal service.

Close your hotel room blinds/curtains/blackout and dim the lights on arrival. Then a warm bath, insert your VA earplugs (that you put in your pocket on the plane) and read a book until you can't keep your eyes open any longer.

Ensure that you eat breakfast next morning.

Have a great trip.

I’ve been flying this route for the past 18 years, best plan is to get an “afternoon” nap in.....I usually let them get through meal service and then have a 90-120 minute nap and then am good....but as someone said do it within the first 7 hours of flight and crew are happy to help wake you.

Your plan of going o bed at about 930 is perfect, keep yourself as close to your normal “bedtime” to help with the jet lag
