New passport, do I need a new redress number?

I’ve just renewed my passport and have applied for and got a new ESTA. I’ve had a redress number for a year or two and am not sure whether I need to renew that.

Does the redress number link to my (old) passport so that I need to do something about it, or does it link to me irrespective of passport number?

I’ve searched online, can’t find anything but I’m sure someone here will know.

I'm sure I've changed passports after having a redress number for many years now and I don't seem to run into any issues.

(Edit to add - I've just checked and I applied for my redress number in Sept 2012 and got a new passport in 2014 and I still use the same redress number today).

As far as I can tell redresss is linked to the secure flight system which actually only uses your name, gender and date of birth to 'match' you against the various lists/databases etc so I I don't think having a new passport number makes any difference.

You could always email [email protected] and ask though to be sure.
