Hello This Friday I am travelling with my 1 year old daughter to walt Disney world in Florida with virgin Atlantic from Manchester. We have the following stroller:

Will we be able to use it all the way to the gate and from the gate in Orlando? Will it be to big to gate check and get put in the hold for free? Will virgin Atlantic have bags at the gate to put the stroller in?

I can't answer all that with any certainly, but I'll be flying to Orlando from Gatwick on Friday and will be taking a bigger and heavier electric wheelchair which folds upper travel to the door and they will put it in the hold and have it back at the door in Orlando according to the very nice lady on the accessibility line at Virgin. I suggest you call them and ask, but I think you'll be okay.

I've travelled with a stroller a few times, but it was this, so I can't be 100% sure on all your questions.

I'm pretty sure you can still gate check that stroller. They'll tag it at check-in and then you'll hand it over to a gate agent during boarding.

Virgin will not provide a bag, which is part of the reason we didn't take a pram like that and bought the zest for traveling along with a bag for it.

On arrival into the US, the stroller will not be available at the gate. It will come out with the rest of the hold luggage. This has been our experience at MCO and ATL anyway. That means you're without it in the queue for immigration. My advice would be to take a carrier/sling.

One other seemingly little known nugget is that if you're in upper and travelling with something like the zest, they will usually let you take it onboard and store it for you. You have to let the gate agent know your intentions and they sometimes need some persuasion. But the FSM has always been happy with it. However I would think it very unlikely they could fit your stroller on.

Yes you can take that pushchair up to the gate however at the other side you won't get it until after passport control.

We found far better to put the pushchair in a protective bag and check it in (this also means you can sneak a few extras into the bag such as nappies.)

Thank you everyone for the replies.
I have just checked in for the flight and was told I can take the pram to the gate in Manchester and that they have plastic clear bin bags with their logo on at the gate to put it in. I was also informed to ask the flight service manager to ensure I get it back at the aircraft door in Orlando. I have also left my 6 year old daughters blanket at home and she is crying. Is there anywhere I can buy or get a blanket from in Manchester terminal 2 or in Orlando before we go to the hotel?

Glad the pram situation is ok. As for the blanket, when you get off the tram in MCO, having been through immigration/ bag collection, you will arrive at the concourse and there are quite a few shops there. From memory, there is a Disney and a Universal store, so you should be able to pick up a blanket easily, although not necessarily cheaply.... Also, the crew should be able to get her a blanket onboard until you get to Orlando if that helps?
