Yep, BA now hold the fastest New York to London subsonic speed record. The VS46 wasn't far behind either at just 4:59.
The existing 5:13 record held by Norwegian was smashed last night by several airlines.
Last nights VS128 JFK>MAN was also 4:59 as well.

Shame the 10 was cancelled! Maybe the VS26 will do it even quicker. Sub 5 hours is amazing.

On our return on the VS 28 on Friday night, the pilot told us that due to the 250 mile tail winds, our effective ground speed at one stage was 829 mph!

I noticed the VS 28 was due at 6.50 this morning and arrived soon after 5.
I look forward to your normal comprehensive TR, what was the actual flight time, how bumpy was it?

We were on the Friday night flight an it was not unduly bumpy. Indeed the outbound was more turbulent and I was ever so grateful to have ice in my drink to prevdent it swishing out of the glass
TR coming soon once I can confirm our I94 status (the CBP site has been down for much of the day)

I was on the VS28 (MCO-LGW) on the 8th. It was touch and go whether it would be cancelled with VS offering free changes if we wanted to stay longer. But I gambled and the flight went, we were told on board that flights arriving before 0700 were going and those arriving/departing after 0700 were being cancelled.
Original times were dep MCO 1745 Arr LGW 0655 hrs +1
Actual times were dep MCO 1750 (we taxied at 1730 actually early) arrived LGW 0508 - 6hrs 18mins flight time instead of 8hr 40mins. Saw the airspeed indicating 820MPH at one point. Was occasionally slightly bumpy but nothing too bad. In flight service was the fastest ever. The meals must've been heated before we took off !. They were clearing away the trays at the front of the cabin as we were being served at the rear.

I'd be a bit miffed if I had an UC ticket and the flight time was so quick

You are not alone. Fantastic for crew, terrible for business passengers needing to get to that early morning meeting. Jetlag hell!

Great shame VS missed out so narrowly, but in a way, I am delighted that the crown went to a 744. Gonna be windy this weekend as well, how long will the record last. At least VS must hold the record from MCO - again a 744
