rebooking:"A fare difference may apply to new travel dates"!

So, if you are stuck with a flight that needs to be cancelled or re-booked, then you can rebook for free, EXCEPT it's not free - it's at the new fare level.

I have 2 flights in March and a family (3) flight for Easter/ April. To burn these is thousands lost, to rebook these is thousands at 'new fare level'. Argh!

Any tips?
Why couldn't Virgin just let you rebook at the existing fare, no charge at all, in the circumstances?
Ok, maybe not allowing mid July to Aug 31st, but anything between then, surely?

My next flight is this Saturday (14th March) Biz Z to NYC, and US govt wants you to 'self quarantine for 14 days' - so whats the point? I must rebook, but a change of dates to e.g. May or September, is $900 + cheapest, $1800+ for better dates. Sigh. What to do??

Yep I moved an IAD in March to ANU in September and had to pay an additional £220. I would be tempted to play a waiting game as I highly suspect this may be dropped soon, especially if the US ban UK arrivals...

Due to fly Wednesday, family of 6, all PE using miles and cc vouchers...
No availability for miles seats looking forward on any dates we could remotely make, no wiggle room from VS - They still maintain we have to be rebooked in a miles seat even post travel restrictions...
Therefore likely losing the vouchers I used for the flights, and getting the remaining miles back :(
Not a great outcome!
