I have two G flights coming up in November/December. if i changed them from Virgin to Delta metal and Virgin did go under Would I still get the flights through Delta?

Then if they do survive, maybe try and change them back for the £30 fee.

Thanks,

Cath

Good question. I suspect it would be up to Delta whether to honour VS reward bookings. I honestly don’t know the legal position on this, or whether DL would make a goodwill gesture given they’d be unlikely to be paid for the booking.

It’s not entirely the same circumstances but as an indicator when Flybe collapsed last month the CAA’s advice on codeshares was:

“Flybe also operated a number of codeshare partnerships with international airlines. If you have an international ticket you should make contact with that airline to confirm your travel arrangements.”

Well yes you could cancel your current VS booking and then make a new DL booking using your miles.

And then in November (or whenevrr) cancel your DL flight and book gain on VS.

However, you would be dependent on their being reward seats available to do this.

Thanks for you help James and Tontybear. I have read on HFP that if you pay for your reward flight taxes and fees on credit card and VS do go under, you can claim the full flight back under section 75 as they have to put you back in the position you were originally in. Not sure this is correct though!!
