So, looking to escape this madness at the end of the year now VS have given a start date for MCO end of October.
Random dates, LHR to MCO brings up LHR - ATL - MCO with Delta in Delta One for £1470. Anybody brave enough

No, all they’ve done is publish the new winter timetable they HOPE to operate, which includes the new LHR-MCO flights.
But there’s absolutely no guarantee they’ll start then - still far too many uncertainties. Equally they could start earlier if the various travel restrictions are lifted.

That is a brilliant price for PE - all midweek dates available from late January until towards end of February!!
Is it worth a gamble?

Is there any extra protection if we booked through the DL website on a VS codeshare flight on VS metal?

The "stonking" UC Z MANJFK fares I was seeing have all increased between 50 - 300%...
1450 -> 2300 and way up

You do have to be quick to grab these fares. Sometimes they only last 24 hours.
One thing to check are travel agents / flight bookers as sometimes those fare stay around for a little longer.
Do be a little bit wary though if you use sites such as Skyscanner etc as they often bring up obscure never heard of before companies selling flights.

I also recall something about Skyscanner's prices being dynamic, so the price you see in your search may not be available by time time you get to the website to book it. It's a good point about the range of websites offering tickets, always worth doing background checks on them first to see whether they're legit and not likely to run off with your money.
As for some of the fares that are/were available, I suspect we may see more of these in the coming months as airlines try and get people back flying again.

looks like ALL MAN - JFK flights have been removed for June / early July now, which were available yesterday.
earliest flight is now July 13.
what happens if you bought a stonking price flight for before July 12?
