Can't speak for VS but I understand that they, like many airlines have simplified the offering to reduce handling/contact with others. Read an interesting article that paints quite a picture of the industry - specifically BA offering onboard.

Thanks - just what I was looking for although not sure how a sealed container of orange juice is safer than a sealed bottle of wine.

Its not the risk of virus drinking alcohol , its the fact that people are less aware once they have had it. Things like social distancing is more difficult to achieve if everybody is drinking booze. Then there is the constant interactions with regards to top ups, ice, can I have a lemon in my gin please plus more trips to the toilet.

They just want you to sit in your seat and get off at the other end.
