Cargo vs excess baggage

S oil might be moving back to the UK fm Los Angeles. I've Ben he real,PST 20 years but having health problems and domestic issues.

Obviously I don't want to bring lots of things with me as I'll be living with my parents for the foreseeable future (knee issues) and after losing job no insurance...

So anyone know if it's cheaper to send lame boxes as cargo or as excess baggage? Obviously no one at Virting is answering phones at the moment.
