V-Flyer

I hope you are keeping well in these strange times!

Myself, my wife and my son are going back to the States to visit family for Christmas (we're all citizens)... Got a few upgrade vouchers to use and so am looking at options to fly upper class for the 3 of us.

My son is 3.5 and used to flights but I'm not sure on what's best in terms of seating for the 3 of us? We've done BA club with him before and the 2 seats next to each other work out well.

However upper is more single secluded seats.... We'd be looking at an a330 300 or 787-9 for our journey.

Wondering if 3 seats in a row along the window side would be best, with him in between us? Or one of us across the aisle and one next to him?

Bit tricky as there isn't a perfect option but wondering if anyone has done it and has any tips or general advice? Thank you

One opposite and one behind would be my choice. Can't beat the combination of one parent with eye contact and one in reach when seat belts are on

I agree; having done three in a row and the one behind and one across option, I think having one parent with eyes on the child and one close is probably the best option. Have the parent with the longest arms in the seat behind the child as the in-between barrier is quite high and if seatbelts are on, we’ve had to do some contortionist reaching over to assist.

I'm just a bit unsure about the seat formation with one across the aisle, as the way the seats are angled away from each other, I'm not sure we'll be able to see our son if one of us was across the aisle?

A330 / 787-9 with tow A facing the wall and the other rows facing each other.... My thought was row A facing the wall with all of us in a row

I think the angle on seat maps looks more severe. It does work to have one person in G and two in K (or the other way round) and both parents can have eye contact so easier to send “help” facial expressions!! Wiser people than me will be able to tell you exactly which seats would be best.

However, if you really want to sit in a line, then that’s fine, of course.
